There are five hot color trends forecast for 2012. Orange, red, blue, purple and green are the hot picks this year with orange being the top selection. Pantone, one of the worlds leading color authorities, has selected Tangerine Tango as its color of the year for 2012.
Orange energizes and can be used as splashes of color in artwork or throw cushions.
Kitchens can be brightened by adding orange to fabric on chairs or to blinds and draperies.

Reds are being seen from deep fuchsias to red-oranges as well as rustic and earthy tones. Besides mixing reds with whites and creams, they are now being mixed with pinks and purples! Some people are only comfortable with red as an accent while others go big with it and paint a room or feature walls with it. You can use red in your furniture, for accent chairs or ottomans.

Blue is forecast to be a hot color tend for 2012. It can be seen in shades of indigo, denim, watery blue-green and aqua tones. You can add blue to your bathroom using a soft tinted blue green tile. Blue is great on kitchen walls in dark indigo with contrasting light cabinets. Throw cushions are another way to add color to bedrooms or living rooms. Green is another strong color for this year. Green is known as a relaxing color making it a great choice for a master bedroom. Greens are being seen as moss, forest and lime. Pale green glass tiles can be used in both bathrooms and kitchens. For a real punch of color paint your walls a lime or celery green. Many people love the color brown, lime or celery green look with chocolate brown.
